In ANDY ROONEY'S "60 Minutes" essay Sunday, he will offer a $1 million reward to anyone who provides information leading to the identification and conviction of the killer or killers of NICOLE BROWN SIMPSON and RONALD GOLDMAN.
"There's still a lot we don't know," Rooney plans to say. "The jury didn't find Simpson innocent... they found him not guilty."
"Someone killed Ronald Goldman and Nicole Brown Simpson. If O.J. SIMPSON didn't do it, the L.A. Police Department has to stop spending its time arresting jaywalkers and find out who did... I wish Simpson had gone on the witness stand instead of (on) LARRY KING" on CNN Wednesday night.
"I pledge to you this: To any person who identifies the killer of Ronald Goldman and Nicole Brown Simpson, and whose information leads to the conviction of that murderer, I will pay the sum of one million dollars."
As for whether Rooney has the dough, he plans to say in his essay: "For 25 years now I've made great money. The last time I was broke was in 1956."
"60 Minutes" producer DON HEWITT says he's not uncomfortable with Rooney's offer, but that it did surprise him. "I'm surprised when anybody offers a million dollars. Andy should live and be well if that's what he wants to do."

Some drug enforcement officials contend they know that the double murder for which O.J. was unsuccessfully accused was done by a dope hit gang, the butchering being a Yakuza specialty. Did O.J. stumble on the scene but for the safety of his children is silent? A friend of Nicole was deeply in debt to dope traffickers -- and just prior to her death Nicole was trying to persuade ex-husband O.J. to put up the pay-off or else.
