BRANCH DAVIDIAN MEMORIAL REPLACES EASTER EGG ROLL ON ELLIPSE Washington, D.C.--Organizers of the annual White House
Easter Egg Roll moved part of the event from the Ellipse, south of the White House, after they discovered the Committee for Waco Justice would be erecting 82 crosses there for the Branch Davidians massacred by federal agents near Waco, Texas in 1993. At the memorial, the Committee also will display a nine-by-five-foot banner depicting the fiery destruction of Mount Carmel as well as fly the Branch Davidian flag.
The Branch Davidian Memorial will be on display Monday, April 17th from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. It also will be on display Sunday, April 16, Tuesday, April 18, and Wednesday, April 19th, from noon to 4:00 p.m.
White House personnel may have been horrified to discover that the Committee's memorial would force children and their parents to face the fact that President Bill Clinton approved the dangerous April 19, 1993 tank and gas attack on a building filled with 21 children under the age of 16.
FBI tanks sprayed the Davidian home and church, Mount Carmel, full of flammable CS gas mixed with a flammable solvent of methylene chloride. Tanks smashed away at the building, destroying stairwells and exits, until the building caught fire.
The FBI attack killed 76 people--21 children, 36 women and 19 men. There were nine survivors. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms agents killed six Davidians during a brutal February 28, 1993 raid.
The Committee believes that the families visiting the Easter Egg Roll, just like all American families, have a right to know that the United States government murdered 82 members of a large, extended family and is covering up that massacre.
The Committee also will be participating in the April 19th Noon to 2 p.m. demonstration at FBI headquarters, as well as sponsoring another demonstration at the same location that evening from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m.
